Methanex Corporation acquired OCI Global's international methanol business for US$2.05B

On June 27, 2025, Methanex Corporation ("Methanex") completed its acquisition of OCI Global's ("OCI") international methanol business for US$2.05 billion. Methanex acquired OCI's stake in two large-scale methanol plants located in Beaumont, Texas, with one of these plants also producing ammonia, a low-carbon methanol production and marketing business, as well as a currently inactive methanol facility in the Netherlands. The transaction consideration consists of approximately US$1.2 billion of cash, excluding adjustments to working capital and cash acquired, the issuance of approximately 9.9 million common shares of Methanex and the assumption of approximately US$450 million in debt and leases.

OCI, headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a leading global producer and distributor of nitrogen, methanol, and hydrogen products.
