Ella Hantho is an associate in the Business Law Group in Toronto. She maintains a general corporate and commercial practice, with previous experience in mergers and acquisitions, structured finance, fintech, and privacy matters.
Ella completed her J.D. at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, and her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy from Queen’s University. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in Canada (CIPP/C).
During law school, she supported innovative start-up companies at the Technology and Innovation Law Clinic. She also wrote case briefs on technology and privacy matters for a bi-weekly publication as a Research Assistant at Schulich. In her role as Founder & President of the Schulich Law & Technology Society, Ella hosted speaker events and a pitch competition that focused on developing creative solutions to improve access to justice.
Ella’s previous experience includes working at McCarthy Tétrault with the Clients & Markets team, and at a designated accounting body as a Firms Coordinator. She was a contributing author for McCarthy Tétrault's chapter in the first edition of Artificial Intelligence, Law Over Borders Comparative Guide 2022.
