Meaza Damte is an associate in our Litigation Group in Toronto. She is building a general litigation practice, with a focus on infrastructure disputes, public law, and class actions. While articling with the firm, Meaza assisted in the successful defence of three obstetricians in a complex medical negligence trial.
Meaza received a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, graduating as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2023. In law school, Meaza was a vocal advocate for her fellow students. She was the President of the Students’ Law Society, the recipient of the University of Toronto Leadership Award as well as the John Willis & Gina Caldarelli Memorial Prize for School Spirit.
Prior to law school, Meaza obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Law and Society (with Distinction) from the University of Calgary. Her thesis, Dependence over Interdependence: the Belt and Road Initiatives’ Impact on Development in Ethiopia, focused on a relatively novel area of international relations and political economy.
Meaza was called to the Ontario bar in 2024. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
