Julie specializes in the complex strategies needed for complex projects.
Julie is a partner in our Litigation Group in Toronto. She is the head of our Project Disputes team. Her practice focuses on litigation in the areas of infrastructure, energy, major construction, procurement and real property.
As a trusted adviser for major enterprises, Julie is a lawyer who sees the project first – and considers big picture options and risks, including and beyond disputes. If every dispute is its own puzzle, Julie works alongside your project professionals to find a solution. This puts the clients she works with in the best position to negotiate creative resolutions or be litigation-ready where inevitable.
Julie represents clients in both the public and private sectors, including AFP authorities and Crown agencies, municipalities, educational institutions, healthcare entities, and owners in land development, energy and other private-sector industries. She has been a repeat guest lecturer for George Brown College’s Construction Law Course and Western University Law Schools contracts course.
Julie’s practice also includes corporate/commercial litigation, class actions, contractual disputes and competition law. She is a member of our National Class Actions Group and has successfully defended domestic and cross-border clients.
A highly regarded trial advocate, Julie has conducted both jury and non-jury trials. She has appeared before courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and has represented clients in complex commercial arbitrations. Julie is a guest instructor for the Osgoode Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop and a contributing author to Defending Class Actions in Canada: A Guide for Defendants, 4th Edition by LexisNexis.
Julie is a member of The Advocates’ Society, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) and the Construction Law Section of the OBA. She is also a member of the National Inclusion Committee and Professional Resources Committee at McCarthy Tétrault.
