Joanna Rosengarten is counsel in our Environmental Group in Toronto and is involved in a broad range of environmental legal matters.
Joanna regularly advises clients on compliance with existing and proposed environmental legislation, environmental permitting issues, federal and provincial environmental assessments, and the rehabilitation and redevelopment of contaminated sites. She is involved in corporate transactions and projects involving environmental issues, including conducting and coordinating due diligence audits and negotiating and drafting contracts related to environmental matters. Joanna also practices in the area of climate change and energy law. She has assisted clients with greenhouse gas reporting compliance, has negotiated and drafted emissions trading agreements, and advises on issues related to obligations arising under Ontario’s cap-and-trade program.
Joanna is a former adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where she taught a class on environmental law. She was ranked as a 'Lawyer to Watch' in environment law in a recent edition of Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers. Joanna is listed in the current edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the field of Environmental Law.
Joanna received a B.Sc. (Hons.) from Queen’s University and a JD from the University of Toronto.
Joanna is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association.
