Jessica Wuergler is an associate in the firm's Labour & Employment Law Group in Toronto.
Jessica represents management in both the public and private sector, on a wide-range of labour, employment and human rights disputes, including grievance arbitrations, interest arbitrations, human rights applications, wrongful dismissal actions, and employment standards claims. She has represented both federally and provincially regulated employers before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Labour Relations Board, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and in private dispute resolution.
Jessica appreciates how important it is to get to know a client's business and understand the intricacies of each unique workplace. Jessica advises and represents employers in a number of different industries, with a particular focus in the sectors of education, public service, financial services, information technology, retail and health care.
Jessica also regularly provides practical and strategic advice to employers in the areas of labour relations, human rights and accommodation, recruitment and retention, terminations with and without cause, policy development and implementation, contract drafting, workplace violence and harassment, workplace investigations, performance and attendance management, restructuring and legislative compliance, as well as labour and employment issues that arise in corporate transactions.
Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology, with a specialization in Human Resource Management, from the University of Waterloo where she graduated on the Dean's Honours List. She received a Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources from the University of Toronto in 2011. Jessica worked in human resources for two years before obtaining her Juris Doctor from Western Law and graduating in 2015.
