Daphne is an associate in our National Projects, Environmental and Aboriginal law groups in Calgary. She regularly provides advice on a wide range of regulatory and commercial law matters to the energy, natural resources, renewables, shipbuilding, construction, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
Daphne brings extensive experience in major infrastructure projects, guiding clients seamlessly from procurement to completion. She excels in drafting comprehensive agreements and offers strategic advice on government and private projects, covering engineering, architectural, and construction matters, including EPC, design/build, and other project and construction management arrangements. Daphne is skilled with standard form industry construction templates, O&M and other service agreements, supply distribution arrangements, supply chain management, procurement documents, non-disclosure agreements, non-compete/non-solicitation agreements, and unique commercial arrangements tailored to client needs.
Her expertise extends to regulatory and environmental matters, providing invaluable counsel on complex due diligence, contaminated site matters, and allocating environmental liabilities in commercial transactions. Daphne adeptly navigates environmental and impact assessment processes, ensuring clients meet permit conditions cost-effectively. She also addresses occupational health and safety issues and secures key regulatory approvals for various projects.
Daphne is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships and partnerships with Indigenous peoples. She advises clients on consultation and accommodation activities, particularly within the project development context, and is skilled in negotiating and drafting impact benefit, collaboration, and relationship agreements. Her work often involves structuring ventures where Indigenous groups are shareholders and decision-makers, ensuring inclusive and equitable partnership.
Through her experience with government contracting and working with regulated industries, Daphne has also developed an interest in, and provides support to clients on, lobbyist registration laws in Canada.
Daphne received her JD from the University of Calgary in 2015 and BA (First Class Honours) in International Relations and Environmental Studies in 2012 from Mount Allison University.
Daphne was called to the Alberta bar in 2016 and the British Columbia bar in 2017. She is a member of the Law Societies of Alberta and British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Bar Association.
