The lenders to EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare completes PPP of Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre

On August 21, 2020, the lenders to EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare closed the public-private-partnership to design, build, finance and maintain the new Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre, a C$260 million healthcare centre in the Halifax Regional Municipality. The project is the first PPP healthcare project in Nova Scotia and one element of the broader QEII New Generation Project, a large-scale, phased, multi-year program that will redesign and build healthcare infrastructure in the Halifax region.
The project involves new construction of a 134,000 sqft outpatient facility and associated site works, located on a 15-acre site in the Bayers Lake Business Park. The new facility will have space for primary care services to be delivered by a healthcare team such as doctors, nurses and other health professionals. It will also include: clinics such as physio and occupational therapy, high blood pressure, diabetes and orthopedic assessment; 17 examination rooms; 24 dialysis stations, diagnostic imaging (x-rays and ultrasounds), and accommodation for blood collection, post-surgery or post-treatment follow-up appointments.
McCarthy Tétrault LLP advised the lenders with a team led by Samantha Cunliffe and Morgan Troke and includes Linda Brown, Liezl Behm and Ailbish Bruchet.
