Patrick is a partner in our Business Law Group in Vancouver with a practice focused on domestic and international transactions in the mining sector. He is sought out by clients for his expertise in metal stream and royalty financing transactions and has extensive experience advising clients on mining joint ventures and private mergers and acquisitions. Patrick’s practice also encompasses a broad range of corporate and commercial law matters.

- Advising B2Gold on its sale of a portfolio of royalties to Versamet Royalties (formerly Sandbox) for approximately US$90m in share consideration
- Advising Wheaton Precious Metals on its US$530 million acquisition of metal streams on the Platreef, Kudz Ze Kayah and Curraghinalt projects from Orion Mine Finance
- Counsel to Taseko Mines on its US$50 million royalty financing transaction with Taurus Mining Royalty Fund for the Florence Copper project in Arizona
- Counsel to Sumitomo on its acquisition of the remaining 20% interest in the Frotet gold project in Quebec from Kenorland Minerals
- Counsel to Appian Capital Advisory on its acquisition of mineral sands deposits and processing facilities in Virginia and North Carolina from Iluka Resources
- Counsel to Wheaton on its US$140 million silver stream and debt facility with Waterton Copper on the Mineral Park Mine in Arizona

- Counsel to Newmont (formerly Goldcorp) on its acquisition of a 50% interest in the Cerro Casale project from Kinross and Barrick and the formation of a 50/50 joint venture with Barrick over the Cerro Casale, Quebrada Seca and Caspiche projects in Chile’s Maricunga district
- Counsel to Nexa Resources (formerly Milpo) on its US$250 million silver stream transaction with respect to the Cerro Lindo mine in Peru with Triple Flag
- Counsel to Newmont (formerly Goldcorp) on the formation of the $3.5billion Corridor joint venture with Teck Resources in relation to their respective El Morro and Relincho projects in Chile, including the concurrent acquisition by Goldcorp of New Gold’s 30% interest in the El Morro project for US$90 million and a 4% gold stream on future gold production
Patrick received his BSc, with great distinction, from the University of Saskatchewan in 2003 and his JD from the University of British Columbia in 2011. He was called to the British Columbia bar in 2012 and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of British Columbia.
