Nicole Fitz-Simon is an associate in our Litigation Group in Calgary, where she maintains a general corporate commercial litigation practice.

Nicole’s litigation experience includes disputes regarding oil and gas agreements, including net profit interest and construction, ownership and operation agreements; construction and builders’ lien litigation; product liability; audit and accounting disputes; and financial services claims. Nicole has experience appearing before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta.

Nicole volunteers with several Pro Bono Students Canada projects, including the Civil Claims Duty Counsel Project and the Queen’s Bench Amicus Project, which provide free legal assistance to unrepresented litigants. She also volunteers with PBSC’s Indigenous Youth Outreach Project and Elementary School Mock Trial Project, which provide mock trial programs to students at Siksika First Nation and at Calgary elementary schools, respectively.

Nicole received her J.D. from the University of Calgary in 2018, making the Dean’s List in 2016 and 2018 and receiving several awards. Prior to law school, Nicole graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria, where she completed her B.A. (Honours) in English Literature and wrote a thesis on the works of D.H. Lawrence. During law school, Nicole volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, tutored students in the Academic Success Program, and served on the Executive Committee of OUTlaws, the University of Calgary’s LGBTQ2+ Law Students Association.

Nicole is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Bar Association.
