Nicole Fitz-Simon is an associate in our Litigation Group in Calgary, where she maintains a general corporate commercial litigation practice. Prior to becoming an associate, Nicole summered and articled with McCarthy Tétrault.

Nicole received her J.D. from the University of Calgary in 2018, making the Dean’s List in 2016 and 2018 and receiving several awards. Prior to law school, Nicole graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria, where she completed her B.A. (Honours) in English Literature and wrote a thesis on the works of D.H. Lawrence. 

Nicole volunteers with several Pro Bono Students Canada projects, including the Civil Claims Duty Counsel Project and the Queen’s Bench Amicus Project, which provide free legal assistance to unrepresented litigants. She also volunteers with the Dare to Dream Project and the Elementary School Mock Trial Project, which provide mock trial programs to students at Siksika First Nation and at Calgary elementary schools, respectively.

During law school, Nicole volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, tutored students in the Academic Success Program, and was involved with the Faculty of Law’s student newspaper. Nicole also served on the Executive Committee of OUTlaws, the University of Calgary’s LGBTQ2+ Law Students Association. Outside of law school, Nicole volunteered with Students for Literacy, a program providing weekly tutoring assistance to students in elementary school, and at a seniors centre assisting individuals living with dementia.

Nicole is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Associaion, and the Association of Women Lawyers.
