Mark is an associate in our litigation group. He provides integrated risk management on complex corporate, commercial, construction, energy, and public law matters. Clients enlist Mark to draft smart contracts that insulate their initiatives from risk, shape anticipated disputes to mitigate their exposure to risk, and efficiently resolve their disputes that are formally underway. Mark has acted on matters before all levels of court in Alberta, the superior courts of Ontario and British Columbia, and securities and energy regulators of Alberta, Ontario, and the federal government, including:

  • corporate mandates concerning plans of arrangement, take-over bids, oppression proceedings, and derivative actions;
  • commercial mandates concerning breach of contract (including leases), tortious conduct, and equitable remedies;
  • construction mandates concerning professional liability, procurement, project management, builders’ liens, and public works;
  • energy mandates concerning transportation of oil and NGLs on pipelines, blending activities, production operations, property registrations, and remediation; and
  • public law mandates concerning constitutionality of government action and judicial review of administrative decisions.

In addition to his client work, Mark also manages our King's Bench Amicus Program at the Calgary Courts Centre and assists with our recruitment and mentorship initiatives.

Mark obtained his J.D. from the University of Ottawa where he served on the Ottawa Law Review. Prior to law school, Mark attended Laval University and St. Francis Xavier University.
