During law school, Julia served as Editor-in-Chief (Editorial) of the UBC Law Review, competed in the Laskin Moot as a French oralist, worked as a research assistant, produced a law-related podcast, and helped unhoused individuals apply for ID through the UBC ID Clinic. Julia also spent summers at the UBC Indigenous Community Legal Clinic and the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. Following law school, Julia clerked for Chief Justice Bauman at the British Columbia Court of Appeal.

Julia completed an undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science at the University of Ottawa, studying in French Immersion. Julia also conducted research in the areas of governance and health economics, served as president of their student association, and worked at the Mergers Branch of the Competition Bureau and Global Affairs Canada. Julia speaks English, French, and some Brazilian Portuguese.
