Jesslyn Chong is an associate in our Business Law Group in London, England. She maintains a general corporate and commercial practice, which includes public and private mergers and acquisitions.

Jesslyn has assisted clients from various industries and has acted for domestic and multinational companies. Being a Canadian lawyer based in London, England has positioned Jesslyn to appreciate the nuances between both legal systems and has exposed her to different markets and regulatory frameworks. Combined with her background in business, Jesslyn endeavours to help clients achieve their strategic objectives, whether domestic or international, and to anticipate legal issues that may affect them in the future.

Recent highlights of Jesslyn’s practice include representing:

  • Canadian Overseas Petroleum Limited on the admission of its common shares to trading on the main market of the London Stock Exchange and on various financings;
  • Glencore plc on the acquisition of a controlling interest in the steelmaking coal business of Teck Resources Ltd. for US$6.93 billion;
  • Glencore Canada Corporation on its acquisition of Noranda Income Fund for C$53 million;
  • Akasha in connection with certain investments in the Capzul Group, a technology company;
  • B2Gold on its sale of a portfolio of royalties to Versamet Royalties (formerly Sandbox) for approximately US$90 million;
  • Wheaton Precious Metals on its US$530 million acquisition of metal streams on the Platreef, Kudz Ze Kayah and Curraghinalt projects from Orion Mine Finance; and
  • Silvercorp Metals Inc. on its acquisition of Adventus Mining Corporation.

Jesslyn received her BBA with honours with great distinction from Simon Fraser University in 2015 and her JD with a concentration in business law from the University of British Columbia in 2018. She is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.
