Aya obtained her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School. She holds an M.A. from McGill University and a B.A from the American University in Cairo. Before moving to Canada, Aya worked at a Human Rights NGO before starting her teaching career in Cairo, Egypt.
While at Osgoode, Aya was a caseworker at the Investor Protection Clinic where she helped harmed investors recoup their losses. She was also a Research Assistant, a Dean’s Fellow for Public and Constitutional Law, and she sat on student caucus for all three years of law school. Aya was the president of the Osgoode Middle Eastern Law Students Association where she helped build a supportive community for her peers.
Outside of law school, Aya enjoys traveling, cooking, reading historical fiction, and learning new languages.
