Ana Badour rejoins McCarthy Tétrault, strengthening our Financial Institutions Regulatory and Fintech capabilities

McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to welcome back Ana Badour as a Partner in our Business Law Group in Toronto, bolstering our market-leading Financial Institutions Regulatory and Fintech practices.
Ana returns to the Firm following a period in-house at a Canadian challenger bank, where she gained first-hand experience navigating the operational and regulatory realities of building and scaling financial products. This experience enhances her ability to deliver practical, commercially grounded advice to clients pursuing innovation within a complex and evolving regulatory framework.
Ranked as a leading lawyer in Chambers Canada for Banking & Finance: Financial Services Regulation and Fintech, her practice spans a broad range of matters, including regulatory advice in financial services M&A transactions, establishment and licensing of regulated entities, consumer protection, anti-money laundering compliance, payments and credit card programs, and the structuring and launch of new financial services platforms. She advises clients across the financial services ecosystem, including established financial institutions, new entrants, foreign financial institutions, emerging Fintech companies and investors.
Ana will head our Financial Institutions Regulatory practice. She will also resume her role as co-leader of our Band 1 Chambers‑ranked Fintech practice alongside Christine Ing and Lori Stein.
“Ana brings a rare combination of top-tier regulatory expertise and first-hand in-house experience, giving her a practical perspective on how financial institutions operate and how financial products are built and scaled within a regulated environment,” said Richard O’Doherty, Partner and Co-Leader of our Business Law Group. “She understands both the frameworks and how they operate in practice, which is exactly what clients need as they pursue innovation.”
“Ana has long been a leader in the Fintech space, with deep knowledge of the regulatory landscape and strong connections across the industry,” added Matt Cumming, Partner and Co-Leader of our Business Law Group. “Her return bolsters our Fintech platform and enhances our ability to support clients as they develop, partner and scale innovative financial services solutions in an increasingly complex market.”
“I’m excited to rejoin McCarthy Tétrault and to work with colleagues across the Firm to support clients navigating innovation in financial services,” said Ana. “The Firm’s national platform and collaborative approach provide an excellent foundation to help clients address complex regulatory and commercial challenges.”
