Modern Slavery: A Guidebook on the Reporting Requirements Under the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act

April 22, 2025Publication

The Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act requires certain covered entities to submit reports annually to Public Safety Canada on what they do to reduce the risk of forced and child labour in their supply chains, prescribing specific details be disclosed by these covered entities, include completing a Public Safety Canada questionnaire.

McCarthy Tétrault’s Guide on the Reporting Obligations Under the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act provides in-depth insights on the reporting obligations and addresses common questions to help ensure accuracy and completeness.

2025 Updates

This updated Guide incorporates new guidance from Public Safety Canada, including changes that could allow entities that do not produce or import goods to avoid filing reports altogether. We have also added relevant guidance issued by international NGOs and the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and updated the Questionnaire in the appendix to reflect changes made since the 2024 reporting cycle by Public Safety Canada.
