Graham Commuter Rail Solutions Davenport General Partnership enters into C$175M project contract with Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx for the Davenport Diamond Rail Grade Separation project
On July 25, 2019, Graham Commuter Rail Solutions Davenport General Partnership ("GCRS") announced that it has entered into a C$175 million fixed-price project contract with Infrastructure Ontario ("IO") and Metrolinx to design, build and finance the Davenport Diamond Rail Grade Separation project, part of Metrolinx's GO Rail Expansion program. The grade separation work will eliminate one of the last high-traffic rail crossings in city by elevating tracks used by passenger trains on the Barrie GO Line over the east-west CP Rail corridor. Currently, the at-grade rail crossing functions similarly to a four-way traffic intersection, resulting in slowdowns. Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2023.
GCRS is new entity formed by Graham Construction & Engineering Inc ("Graham") to undertake the Davenport Diamond Rail Grade Separation Project. Graham's areas of expertise include all types of buildings, industrial, and infrastructure projects including schools, hospitals, roadways, power plants, oil refineries and public transit.
Infrastructure Ontario is a crown corporation wholly owned by the Province of Ontario and established by the Ontario Infrastructure and Lands Corporation Act, 2011. Infrastructure Ontario provides a wide range of services to support the Ontario government’s initiatives to modernize and maximize the value of public infrastructure and real estate.
Metrolinx is a Government of Ontario agency tasked with the coordination and integration of all modes of transportation in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
The Davenport Diamond Rail Grade Separation project, announced in 2014, will bring 15-minute, two-way, all-day, electrified GO service to communities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
