CIBC's enforcement proceedings against Groupe Guzzo

We are advising CIBC in connection with enforcement proceedings against Groupe Guzzo, a leading cinema operator in Québec. Our mandate included issuing default notices, attempting to negotiate forbearance agreements, and ultimately obtaining court appointments of an interim receiver and then a receiver to oversee the liquidation of assets. Through a court-supervised sale process, we secured full repayment of CIBC’s significant exposure via the disposition of distressed cinema operations and select real estate assets.
