Rosemarie Sarrazin is an associate in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group in Montreal. Her practice focuses primarily on civil and commercial litigation, including shareholder disputes and remedies under commercial laws, claims concerning commercial leasing, extraordinary remedies, cross-border litigation and class actions. Her practice also covers disputes pertaining to intellectual property issues and insolvency proceedings.

Rosemarie has represented clients in cases before all Quebec trial courts as well as the Quebec Court of Appeal. She has also assisted many clients in private arbitration disputes. Rosemarie has participated in numerous trials, including several lengthy trials, wherein she has developed strong advocacy skills.

Below are a few of the clients that Rosemarie has represented:

  • The minority shareholders of a corporation facing a hostile takeover bid, in the context of proceedings to establish the fair value of their shares;
  • A shareholder of a major African mining and aviation company, in a litigation relating to the dissolution of the corporation and the liquidation of its assets;
  • A luxury automobile manufacturer, in a litigation with a distributor;
  • One of the largest Canadian real estate investment trusts, in various actions against tenants;
  • A real estate developer, in a litigation relating to environmental issues associated with the construction of a building of several hundred housing units;
  • A corporation that owns a biofuel plant, in an action against manufacturers and vendors of the components of the plant concerning defects in design and construction;
  • The licensee of a U.S. trademark holder, in an action against the owner of the trademark.

Rosemarie has also participated as a speaker at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 Strategic Day conferences on Commercial Loans and Securities organized by Open Forum Ouvert, presenting recent case law developments in this area.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) in 2017 from Université de Montréal, as well as a Specialized Graduate Diploma in Business Law from the same university in 2023. During her studies, Rosemarie served as a member of the Board of Directors of the student association, notably as president.

Rosemarie was called to the Quebec Bar in 2019.
