Partner François Giroux admitted to the American College of Trial Lawyers

McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to share that Partner François Giroux has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers at an induction ceremony during the recent annual meeting of the College in New York City.
Founded in 1950, the American College of Trial Lawyers is widely recognized as the preeminent organization of trial lawyers in North America, composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Fellowship is extended by invitation only, following a rigorous investigation process, to experienced trial lawyers who have demonstrated the highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, professionalism, civility, and collegiality. Candidates must have at least fifteen years of trial experience before consideration for Fellowship.
The American College of Trial Lawyers strives to preserve and enhance trial practice, civility, professionalism, and the administration of justice through support of an independent judiciary, the rule of law, trial by jury, and access to justice.
François has been a member of the Firm for over 28 years. He regularly appears before trial and appellate courts in Québec for major commercial litigation and class actions. He also represents clients in confidential internal investigations and arbitrations. He distils this deep experience with dispute resolution and litigation risk into critical advice for clients undertaking strategic mergers and acquisitions and other transactions. François is Co-Head of the Firm’s Class Actions Group.
“Induction into the American College of Trial Lawyers is one of the highest honours a litigator can receive in North America,” said Tom Sutton, Practice Group Leader for Litigation & Dispute Resolution. “François is exceptionally deserving of this distinction. He is a formidable courtroom advocate, a trusted strategic advisor and a generous colleague and mentor. We are all immensely proud of his achievement.”
“It’s an honour to be inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and to join such an accomplished group of advocates,” said François. “Fellowship is more than a distinction. It carries a responsibility to uphold the highest standards of trial advocacy and to advance the rule of law and the administration of justice. I’m humbled by this recognition and proud to stand alongside so many distinguished colleagues.”
