Julie Belley Perron and Morgane L. Besner Bolster McCarthy Tétrault’s Environmental Law Expertise

MONTRÉAL — McCarthy Tétrault proudly welcomes new partner Julie Belley Perron and new associate Morgane L. Besner to our Business Law and Environmental Groups in Montréal, reinforcing our environmental law expertise in the Québec market and across Canada.
Julie is a seasoned practitioner with a strong track record in piloting complex environmental due diligence review and addressing environmental liabilities encountered in the context of merger and acquisition transactions. She also guides clients through all stages of the development and implementation of their industrial, real estate and commercial projects, especially in renewable energy (hydroelectric, wind power, solar, biomass, biogas and hydrogen). She has extensive experience with environmental compliance, regulatory matters and contaminated land management.
Julie's deep understanding of the environmental sector allows her to help clients proactively identify risks, devise effective solutions, and capitalize on opportunities that drive value and growth. Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault, Julie served as the director of legal affairs and operations with a prominent renewable energy producer. This unique, client-side perspective enables her to deliver practical advice tailored to clients' internal realities.
“Julie’s extensive background in environmental law, coupled with her unique perspective from her time serving in an in-house role, make her a tremendous asset to our clients and our firm,” said Éric Gosselin, Practice Group Leader of McCarthy Tétrault’s Business Law Group. “Her addition, along with Morgane, further solidifies the national strength of our Environmental Group and we are thrilled to have her join our firm.”
Morgane’s practice focuses on environmental, regulatory and aboriginal law. She conducts due diligence reviews in the context of commercial and real-estate transactions and provides support in compliance matters and renewable energy projects.
McCarthy Tétrault has a formidable expertise to navigate the complex federal, provincial and municipal laws, regulations and agreements affecting large and complex projects and transactions. This includes environmental assessment processes, advocacy work regarding recent or coming legal development, regulatory compliance, assistance in obtaining key environmental permits, contaminated sites management, climate change and emissions trading, negotiations with governmental authorities and interest groups, and representation of our clients in the context of public hearings and environmental litigation.
