National Bank of Canada completes inaugural USD sustainable bond offering for US$750M

On October 9, 2019, National Bank of Canada completed its offering of US$750 million 3-year sustainable bonds, the first international issuance of a sustainability bond in US dollars by a North American bank. National Bank plans to use the net proceeds from the offering to finance eligible businesses and projects in green and social assets, as well as for investment opportunities in renewable energy, sustainable buildings, low-carbon transportation, affordable housing and access to basic or essential services.

National Bank, headquartered in Montreal, is Canada's sixth largest chartered bank.
