McCarthy Tétrault advised on IJInvestor’s 2024 Americas Market Impact Deal of the Year – North America
McCarthy Tétrault served as Canadian legal advisor to Cameco Corporation on Cameco and Brookfield Renewable Partner's USD$7.9B acquisition of Westinghouse Electric Company. IJInvestor hailed the deal at their annual awards ceremony, naming it the 2024 Americas Market Impact Deal of the Year – North America.
This complex international acquisition of one of the world’s largest nuclear services businesses spanned 19 countries in an industry with significant regulatory oversight and ownership restrictions. Under the agreement, Brookfield Renewable, with its institutional partners, now owns 51% interest in Westinghouse and Cameco owns the remaining 49%.
