McCarthy Tétrault leading the way with innovative Québec City office on Grande Allée

Date

July 6, 2015

Québec City, July 6, 2015 – McCarthy Tétrault is very pleased to announce that its Québec City office has moved to a state of the art building located at 500 Grande Allée East. The new space offers a revolutionary approach to delivering legal services that embodies the firm’s core values of innovation, client service and market leadership.

With the office lease coming up for renewal, McCarthy Tétrault recognized an opportunity to look at how its physical space could be transformed to support the evolution in the firm’s culture and to complement the way its teams operate. The new premises introduce a hybrid workplace aimed at fostering creativity increasing knowledge flow and collaboration, and driving cultural change within the firm.

“Buyers of legal services have increasingly high expectations of their law firms to evolve into efficient, modern and client-focused organizations,” said Tracie Crook, Chief Operating Officer. “McCarthy Tétrault has a history of innovation – from becoming the first national law firm in Canada to being the first Canadian firm to train its lawyers in project management. We are embracing the seismic shift within the legal industry by developing solutions that create client value through efficiency. And we’re supporting these changes by challenging our assumptions of how law is practised, how law firms function and the way we work.”

“We are replacing the typical hierarchical, closed-door model of traditional law firms and creating a more flexible collaborative space that is conducive to teamwork and the integration of our practices, both of which are critical to our success,” said Kim Thomassin, Managing Partner for the Québec Region. “We offered a catalogue of technology solutions so all our people have the flexibility to choose how and where they want to work.”

The new office, supported by advanced technology, is ground breaking within the North American legal sector, both in terms of design and overall approach. The firm expects the new space, flooded with natural daylight, will have an enormous impact, psychologically and physically, changing behaviours and the way its people work. The environment provides a variety of practical work settings to support firm members – including a new knowledge centre hub where teams can meet informally in a café setting, multiple meeting areas on each practice floor and a living plant wall.
