AREA OF EXPERTISE
Sean Porter is an associate in our Labour & Employment Group in Toronto. He maintains a general labour and employment practice, which includes providing advice and representation to unionized and non-unionized employers on a wide range of issues.
Mr. Porter acts for clients in a variety of sectors and industries with respect to various labour and employment law issues including wrongful dismissal litigation, labour arbitrations, collective bargaining, labour relations, employment standards, Canada Labour Code adjudications, human rights and labour and employment issues arising in corporate transactions.
Mr. Porter’s recent experience includes representing employers in wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal litigation in various levels of courts, representing employers in claims of employment based discrimination at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and representing employers in response to Union Applications for Certification at the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
Mr. Porter received his BA (Honours with Distinction) in Religion and Near & Middle Eastern Civilizations from Trinity College at the University of Toronto in 2010. He received his JD from Queen’s University in 2013.
Mr. Porter was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014. Before joining McCarthy Tétrault, he practiced labour and employment law at a large labour and employment law firm. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association and Ontario Bar Association.
