Amendments to the BC Class Proceedings Act Will Come Into Force on October 1, 2018
On April 23, 2018, the BC’s Attorney General announced that the government was tabling major amendments to BC’s Class Proceedings Act. The amendments received Royal Assent on May 17, and will switch BC from an “opt in” to an “opt out” jurisdiction and establish a framework for the certification of multi-jurisdictional class proceedings. October 1, 2018 has now been set as the date on which the amendments will come into force. You can read more about the amendments in our previous post, here.
