Sonia Atwell is an intellectual property law clerk in our Litigation Group in Toronto. Sonia supports clients and lawyers by assisting with the preparation and prosecution of patent infringement cases. She regularly assists on other Ontario Superior Court, Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada proceedings. She has also assisted with filing of an amicus curiae brief in the Supreme Court of the United States. Sonia conducts patent and art searches, drafts pleadings and attends to all forms of Court filings in connection with patent infringement proceedings. Sonia’s expertise in judicial applications and appeals to the Federal Court and Supreme Court of Canada proceedings makes her valued team asset.

Experience

Sonia has extensive litigation experience working on medical defence, commercial, general and intellectual property proceedings. Prior to working as an intellectual property law clerk, Sonia worked as a legal assistant for senior litigators on various medical defence and commercial litigation files. Her legal knowledge extends from preparation, drafting, researching, and transcribing confidential and sensitive documentation in legal proceedings. Since becoming a law clerk, Sonia has performed worked on patent prosecution files for major pharmaceutical companies.
