On May 9, 2008, TransAlta Corporation completed an offering of US$500 million  of 6.65% senior notes due in 2018, payable on May 15 and November 15 each year, beginning on November 15, 2008. The net proceeds from the offering will be used for debt repayment, financing of TransAlta's long-term investment plan and for general corporate purposes.
