PepsiCo purchases Spitz Sunflower Seed business

On December 1, 2008, PepsiCo acquired Spitz International Inc.'s sunflower and pumpkin seed snack food business. The acquisition was completed through the purchase of assets of Spitz International Inc. and its U.S. subsidiary, Spitz USA, Inc., and the business will be part of Frito Lay North America's operations. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
PepsiCo said Spitz will continue operations at its production centre and head office in Bow Island, Alberta., and distribution centre in Medicine Hat.
Spitz International is Canada's leading producer of sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
PepsiCo is an American multinational food and beverage corporation headquartered in Purchase, New York, with interests in the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of grain-based snack foods, beverages, and other products.
