On April 24, 2020, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment ("MLSE") finalized their COVID-19 response strategy which included launching the “Bringing Toronto Back to Its Feet” program. Among other aspects, the program involves transforming the Scotiabank Arena into Toronto’s largest (safe, socially-distanced) kitchen, with the goal of preparing and providing up to 10,000 meals per day for Toronto’s front-line health-care workers and their families as well as the city’s most vulnerable via community agencies and shelters. MLSE is planning to run the program five days a week at least through June, delivering a half-million meals.
Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is a professional sports and commercial real estate company based in Toronto, Canada.
McCarthy Tétrault advised MLSE with a team led by Kate McNeill-Keller (Labour & Employment) and Awi Sinha (Strategic Guidance) that included Ryan Plener (Labour & Employment), Raj Juneja and Jeremy Ho (Tax).
