On June 12, 2023, Chief Elvin Flett of St. Theresa Point First Nation in Manitoba proposed a national class action lawsuit against the federal government for failing to address the housing crisis on reserves. Chief Flett is seeking C$5 billion and an order that the federal government provide adequate housing on First Nations reserves.
