Lefebvre & Benoit sells majority stake in operating businesses to Groupe BMR

On September 1, 2019, Lefebvre & Benoit completed its previously announced sale of a 55% stake in its operating businesses to Groupe BMR. The transaction is expected to enhance the offerings of both companies and strengthen their positions as leaders in the hardware and construction materials sectors. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Lefebvre & Benoit is one of the largest distributors of construction materials in Quebec. It serves commercial clients and contractors in the residential, industrial and institutional sectors primarily in Quebec and Ontario.
Groupe BMR operates over 300 home renovation centres and hardware stores in Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes. It makes an estimated C$1.3 billion in annual retail sales.
