On February 6, 2018, EllisDon Infrastructure MGH Inc. ("EllisDon") entered into a project agreement with Michael Garron Hospital to design, build and finance the major redevelopment project (the "Project"), which includes a new patient care tower at Michael Garron Hospital (the "Hospital") in Toronto, Ontario. ATB Financial, National Bank of Canada and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation acted as the lenders to EllisDon. The Project, valued at C$411 million, is being touted as the largest construction project in the history of the Hospital.
The Project involves renovations within the existing Hospital and construction of a new eight-story patient care tower with a three-story podium connecting to the existing Hospital, as well as demolition of some existing space. The scope of work includes approximately 550,000 square feet of new space and 100,000 square feet of renovations. The Project will help the Hospital deliver improved patient care to the Toronto East community through a modernized facility, while replacing some of the oldest spaces in the Hospital.

McCarthy Tétrault LLP advised ATB Financial, National Bank of Canada and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, the lenders, with a team led by Morgan Troke that included Ailbish Skinner.
