Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec acquires additional stake in Cirque du Soleil

On February 14, 2020, Caisse de depot et placement du Québec (CDPQ) completed the acquisition of an additional stake in Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group (Cirque du Soleil). CDPQ acquired the shares from Guy Laliberté, the founder of Cirque du Soleil. Guy Laliberté will remain involved in the creative process of the business and retain economic interests there. Following this investment, CDPQ will own nearly 20% of the business.

Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec is a long-term institutional investor that manages funds primarily for public and parapublic pension and insurance plans. As one of Canada's leading institutional fund managers, CDPQ invests globally in major financial markets, private equity, infrastructure, real estate and private debt.

Cirque du Soleil is a Montreal-based entertainment company and the largest contemporary circus producer in the world.
