BDC Capital Inc. invested in Medtech Ventures Fund I LP ("Medtech") as a limited partner. The investment was made in respect of the Venture Capital Catalyst Initiative, an initiative by the Government of Canada that aims to create a vibrant and sustainable venture capital industry by investing C$50 million in six venture capital funds focused on the Life Sciences sector. Medtech is a new venture fund managed by Sectoral Asset Management targeting the healthcare and medtech sectors, with a focus on early-stage Canadian medical technology companies.

BDC, headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, is a financial institution that aims to create and develop strong Canadian businesses through financing, advisory services and capital, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises.

McCarthy Tétrault advised BDC with a team led by Mathieu Laflamme that included Alexandre Saulnier-Marceau, Florence Tardif (Business), Christian Meighen, Julien Leblanc, and Étienne C. Laplante (Tax).
