Zach puts clients’ business needs first, planning and executing transactions in a way that makes sense.
Zach is a business law associate with a focus on banking and financial services. Since joining the firm in 2022, he has acted on a wide range of lending transactions, acting for both lenders and borrowers. Zach’s experience includes commercial operating loans and acquisition financings, as well as commercial real estate and infrastructure project financings. He routinely acts on both domestic and cross-border transactions.
In addition to transactions in industries such as mining, retail and manufacturing, Zach has experience with growth-stage and innovation financing, including in the software, e-commerce and biomedical spaces. Prior to joining McCarthys, he worked for a mid-sized law firm where he primarily assisted small and mid-market companies and institutions.
Zach’s experiences in the mid-market and startup spaces have given him a stronger appreciation for the fact that every client brings with them unique commercial needs and sensitivities. He works to understand the bigger picture and ensures that structural and drafting decisions reflect and complement commercial rationale.
Zach obtained his law degree and degrees in finance and English from the University of Toronto. While at U of T, he worked for the faculty of economics as a tutor and directed the law school’s annual theater production.
Zach was called to the Ontario Bar in 2022 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
