Pierre-Jérôme Bouchard is a partner in our Litigation Group in Montréal. His practice encompasses class actions, commercial litigation as well as medical, product liability and intellectual property disputes at both the trial and appellate levels. He has particular expertise in consumer class actions based on the Québec Consumer Protection Act and has acted for manufacturers in many different industries. He has also been involved in significant cases raising Charter arguments. Pierre-Jérôme has pleaded before all levels of court in Québec.
Pierre-Jérôme is a contributor to the Commercial Litigation and Arbitration Review, a quarterly publication by LexisNexis, and a member of its board of editors. He has presented on issues related to product liability, mining litigation and securities class actions among others. Pierre-Jérôme serves a co-executive director of the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute, which provides advocacy advice to lawyers scheduled to appear in Supreme Court of Canada appeals.
Pierre-Jérôme received his law degree from the Université Laval in 2003. Prior to joining the firm as a lawyer in 2006, he completed a master of law degree at Columbia University in New York, with a focus on intellectual property, and served as a law clerk to the Honourable Justice Louis LeBel of the Supreme Court of Canada. From 2007 to 2010, Pierre-Jérôme was an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York, where he worked on a wide variety of litigation matters, including securities fraud, intellectual property, breach of contract, antitrust and bankruptcy proceedings, as well as regulatory investigations and arbitrations. He returned to McCarthy Tétrault in 2010.
Pierre-Jérôme was called to the Québec Bar in 2006 and to the New York Bar in 2007.
