University of Victoria

Kyra obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law in 2024. Prior to law school, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Queen’s University.

During her undergraduate and law school degrees, Kyra developed a passion for prison justice. She spent much of her time volunteering with incarcerated individuals by facilitating career development workshops, art and healthy living programs, and peer support sessions. During her 1L summer, Kyra worked with Prisoners’ Legal Services where she independently represented incarcerated clients in disciplinary hearings and conducted research on human rights issues relating to trans rights, access to healthcare, and privacy issues.

While at the University of Victoria, Kyra served as Vice President of the Intellectual Property and Information Technology Club, she was the Founder and President of the Prison Law Club, she participated in the WSÁNEĆ law field school program, and volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada on their Intellectual Property and Emerging Artists Project. She also worked as a community leader with Residence Services where she supervised and mentored over 40 first-year undergraduate students living in residence.

In her free time, Kyra enjoys creating art reproductions, playing hockey, and reading dystopian novels.
