Karen Luu is an associate in the Business Law Group in Toronto. She maintains a general practice advising on a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions.
Representative Transactions Include:
- The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (Manulife) in the sale of Regional Power Inc. to Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure and Desjardins
- RBC Dominion Securities Inc. and the bondholders in the issuance of C$1.08B senior secured bonds to Northwestern Hydro Acquisition Co II and III LP
- MUFG Bank, Ltd., one of the largest banks in Japan, and the lenders on the project financing of the development, construction and operation of a 102 MW natural gas powered cogeneration facility owned by Fengate Capital Management Ltd.
Karen received a J.D. in 2018 and a business degree with a specialization in Finance & Administration in 2014 from the University of Western Ontario (Western). She also completed a semester of law school at the University of Groningen. Prior to law, Karen worked for a major bank and leading consumer packaged goods company.
As a law student, Karen was a director of the University Students’ Council at Western, participated in competitive mooting, volunteered at Community Legal Services, acted as a managing editor of the Western Journal of Legal Studies, and worked as a legal research assistant on various projects related to personal property security, blockchain, bankruptcy and insolvency, sports law, and international arbitration.
Karen was called to the bar in 2019. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
