With experience leading complex debt financing transactions in Canada and across borders, Justin provides sophisticated advice on clients’ most complex matters.

Justin is a partner and Co-Leader of McCarthy Tétrault’s National Financial Services Group based in Toronto. Justin’s practice focuses on banking and secured lending transactions, including senior and subordinate loans, restructurings, acquisition financings and asset-based lending. He regularly acts for Canadian and international banks and financial institutions, private debt funds, private credit as well as corporate borrowers. As Co-Leader of our National Financial Services Group, Justin brings an additional layer of insight into successfully managing deals and transactions, helping clients craft the best team to efficiently and effectively meet their goals.

Examples of Justin’s work include leading teams advising:

  • A syndicate of lenders led by National Bank of Canada in providing a term loan credit facility of CAD 200 million to Sagicor Financial Company.
  • A syndicate of lenders led by Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce providing a senior secured credit facility for CAD 275 million to Extendicare.
  • Amer Sports Inc. in entering three credit agreements and note issuance worth a total of USD 2.8 billion.
  • A syndicate of lenders led by Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce providing financing to a transportation business for USD 275 million.
  • A syndicate of lenders led by Bank of Montreal providing financing to an equipment rental business for CAD 250 million.
  • A syndicate of lenders led by Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in its CAD 200 million financing of RF Capital Group Inc.

Justin received his BA (Political Science) from York University in 1995 and his LLB from the University of Windsor in 1998.
