An accomplished dealmaker, Jonathan helps clients navigate complex transactions across multiple industries.

Jonathan See is a partner in our Business Law Group in Toronto and Co-head of the firm’s national M&A Group and Private Equity Group. He is one of Canada’s most well-known M&A lawyers acting for many of the leading financial sponsors in the market and multiple strategics on a wide range of domestic and cross-border transactions, particularly in the technology, energy transition, infrastructure, energy and mining, and real estate industries.

Jonathan is Chambers-ranked, and repeatedly recognized by Legal 500, IFLR, Best Lawyers and Lexpert, for his significant experience in M&A, private equity, infrastructure, project finance and real estate. He was named a Rising Star by Lexpert, the annual award that honours Canada’s “Leading Lawyers Under 40”. He also led Canadian Law Awards’ 2022 M&A Deal of the Year - Brookfield Infrastructure’s C$15 billion cash and securities exchange takeover bid for Inter Pipeline Ltd.

  • Brookfield Infrastructure in connection with its takeover bid for Inter Pipeline Ltd. for approximately C$15 billion
  • Brookfield Asset Management in its agreement to buy HomeServe PLC for £4.08 billion
  • Brookfield Infrastructure and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan in its acquisition of Compass Datacenters from RedBird Capital Partners and Azrieli Group

  • Brookfield Renewable Holdings in its exclusive negotiations with Impala to acquire a majority stake in Neoen for €6.1 billion and launch a mandatory tender offer for 100% of the company

  • TD Asset Management in the acquisition of approximately 51% of the outstanding shares of Rabbalshede Kraft AB, a leading operator in renewable energy in the Nordic region
