Jonathan Leung is an Associate in the Business Law Group of McCarthy Tétrault’s Toronto office where his practice focuses on Banking and Financial Services and Capital Markets.
Jonathan has particular interest acting for clients on covered bond offerings, commercial and residential mortgage-backed securitizations, and corporate note issuances. In addition, Jonathan has broad experience representing banks, financial institutions and corporate borrowers in various complex financing transactions including acquisition financing, syndicated loans, asset-based lending, and fund financing matters.
Jonathan earned his Canadian J.D. from the University of Windsor and his U.S. J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy before earning his LL.M. from King’s College London, where he concentrated on international financial and commercial law. Prior to his legal career, Jonathan was an alumnus of the University of Toronto’s pharmacy school and was a registered pharmacist.
Outside the office, Jonathan volunteers on the board of directors of the University of Windsor’s Alumni Association and serves on the board’s finance committee.
Jonathan is called to the bars of Ontario, New York and Illinois and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the New York City Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association.
