John Durland is an Associate with the MT>Ventures division of McCarthy Tétrault in Toronto. John is entirely focused on supporting high-growth emerging companies, where he leverages his interdisciplinary background to anticipate and avoid legal hurdles as his clients scale. John regularly advises clients on corporate formation and governance, financings across debt, equity, and hybrid instruments, and various other corporate and commercial transactions.
Prior to joining the Firm, John co-founded an innovative legal services program for startups at a boutique firm in Toronto, where he also advised clients on intellectual property, litigation, and regulatory matters.
John received a J.D. from Western University and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019.
