Advising on all aspects of a transaction, Jo-Anna helps clients spot issues early on and navigates them through every step, from structuring through execution.

Jo-Anna is a partner in our Business Law Group in Toronto. She has a structured finance, financial services and securities practice with a focus on securitization, covered bonds and debt capital markets transactions.

Taking a practical approach to get the deal done, Jo-Anna also ensures every detail has been considered.

Jo-Anna’s cross-border transactional experience spans numerous jurisdictions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg and Australia. Some of her recent notable work includes:

  • advising on public and private securitization transactions covering a variety of asset classes, including auto and equipment loans and leases, dealer floorplan loans, trade receivables, residential mortgages, lines of credit and credit cards;
  • establishing covered bond programs for a number of Canadian financial institutions and related international offerings;
  • acting for issuers and underwriters in connection with public securities offerings and private placements, including secured and unsecured bond offerings; and
  • acting for financial institutions on project financing and secured lending transactions and other banking and related matters.

A member of the Structured Finance Association, Jo-Anna is very active in its Women in Securitization (“WiS”) initiative, which provides relevant content to women in the industry and connects them to peers, mentors and sponsors. During WiS Week 2018, Jo-Anna was featured as one of the WiS women in leadership.

Jo-Anna received her B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and Statistics from Acadia University in 1999, and her joint LLB/MBA from Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business in 2006. While at Osgoode, she was the Senior Style Editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal.
