Javid Dharas is an associate in the Litigation Group in Toronto. He maintains a general litigation practice.

Before joining McCarthy Tetrault, Javid clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Malcolm Rowe. Prior to that, he worked as an associate at a top international law firm in Washington, D.C., where he focused on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration. His clients included sovereign entities and large publicly traded and privately held corporations.

Javid received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he served as the Vice President & Treasurer of the Harvard Law Review. While at Harvard, Javid also served as the Co-President of the National Security & Law Association and was nominated as a Fellow to the Salzburg Cutler Global Seminar on public and private international law.

Before law school, Javid served in a variety of capacities in the federal government, including as a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development, and as an analyst at Global Affairs Canada. Throughout his time in government, Javid provided advice and analysis to high-level decision makers on national priorities that impact companies across the country, such as Canada’s industrial policy development, foreign investment reviews under the Investment Canada Act, and trade and foreign relations.

Javid received his Honours B.Soc.Sc. from the University of Ottawa, where he graduated magna cum laude. He was called to the Bar in Washington, D.C. in 2022, and in Ontario in 2024.
