James S.S. Holtom (Jamie) is a lawyer in our Litigation Group in Toronto. Jamie serves clients in complex intellectual property litigation, including patent, trade-mark, and copyright disputes, as well as administrative law matters.

Before joining McCarthy Tétrault, Jamie served as law clerk to the Honourable Justice David Stratas of the Federal Court of Appeal, assisting in deliberations on cases in the areas of IP, administrative law, tax law, and civil procedure, and practiced in IP litigation and administrative law at a litigation boutique.

Jamie has considerable injunction, trial, and appellate experience, appearing as counsel in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal. He has acted on behalf of international pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, sportswear, technology, and telecommunications companies, financial services providers, trade unions, and small businesses.

Jamie received his Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University in 2010. Jamie also received his JD from Queen’s University in 2013 where he was awarded prizes for academic standing in trust and patent law, and legal research.

Jamie was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2014. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian bar Association, the Advocates’ Society, and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
