Jacques is a trusted advisor who helps employers adopt strategic and practical approaches to human resources management.
Jacques is a partner and leader of the Labour and Employment Group at our Montréal office.
Drawing on his extensive experience in restructuring, corporate goal realignment and management of complex cases in both unionized and professional environments, he advises clients notably in the areas of occupational health and safety, human rights, recruitment and dismissal, drafting contracts, policy implementation and protection of intellectual property and corporate commercial interests.
Jacques has been involved in major M&A, plant closure and collective agreement negotiation cases for employers under Quebec and federal legislation, appearing before administrative tribunals, grief arbitrators, human rights tribunals and civil courts.
He has handled major cases for the mining, industrial and energy sectors, as well as for companies in the service, hospitality, transportation and technology industries. He has high-level, hands-on experience in matters related to restrictive clauses and the management of workplace absenteeism.
For many years, Jacques was the pan-Canadian leader for McCarthy Tétrault’s Labour and Employment Group.
Jacques also assists physicians in matters of disciplinary and administrative law.
A member of the Ordre des CRHA et CRIA du Québec, he has spoken at numerous conferences and seminars related to labour relations, human rights, and occupational health and safety.
Jacques received his bachelor’s degree in law from Université de Montréal in 1981. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1982.
