Gurvir received his JD from the University of Toronto. Prior to law school, Gurvir received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (Class 1 Standing) from the University of British Columbia. During his time at UBC, Gurvir was a University Senator and a Teaching Assistant at the Sauder School of Business.
In law school, Gurvir was an active community member. He served as a Student Ambassador, Pro Bono Students Canada Chapter Executive, and Co-Chair of the South Asian Law Students’ Association. He is a 2020 recipient of the South Asian Bar Association’s Student Recognition Award.
Gurvir was a 2018-2019 Rotman OnBoard Fellow at the University of Toronto, where he researched board governance for the Office of the Governing Council. Gurvir also served on the University Affairs Board during his final year of law school.
Gurvir joins the firm as an articling student after completing the firm’s summer program, during which he was seconded to a major financial institution. Prior to articling, he worked on projects regarding COVID-19 for the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII). Gurvir volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program in Vancouver during law school and also completed an academic placement with the City of Toronto’s Legal Services Division.
Gurvir is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, SABA Toronto, and the First Generation Network. Outside of work, Gurvir enjoys travelling, trying new restaurants, and watching the Toronto Raptors.
