Geneviève D. Favreau is an associate in our Tax Group in Montréal. Her practice encompasses all areas of domestic and international income tax, with a focus on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, financings and natural resource taxation.
Before joining McCarthy Tétrault, Geneviève practised in the corporate tax department of a large professional services firm, where she played a key supportive role in planning Canadian and international transactions, analyzing contracts and drafting tax opinions. She also assisted and successfully represented a number of clients in disputes with the tax authorities.
Geneviève obtained her LL.L from the University of Ottawa (cum laude) in 2016. She received her J.D. from Queen’s University in 2017. In 2019, Geneviève completed a LL.M in International Taxation at New York University School of Law.
Geneviève was called to the Québec bar in 2018. She is a member of the Young Bar of Montreal, Canadian branch of the International Fiscal Association, the Association de planification fiscale et financière and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
