James Papadimitriou is a senior partner in the Montréal office, with a practice focused on real estate and financial services. 

James advises clients on a variety of real estate acquisitions, developments, joint ventures, commercial lending transactions, real estate financings, project financings and commercial leasing transactions. He also regularly represents Canadian chartered banks and other retail operators on commercial leasing matters, acts for landlords on leasing matters and represents major cargo operators and port users in leasing matters with port authorities.

James speaks regularly at conferences and on panels for the real estate sector, and is frequently cited in the media. Last October, James acted as a moderator for the McCarthy Tétrault AdvanceTM Program Lunch Seminar: Investing in Commercial Real Estate in the United States. Furthermore, James was co-president and speaker at the Développement immobilier et urbain au Québec conference held in February 2013. At the 7th annual Montreal Real Estate Leasing Conference, held on May 23, 2013, James was invited to moderate a panel discussion for the session entitled: " Landlord & Tenant Rights and Remedies: Five Common Default Scenarios and Other Issues That You Need to be Aware of in Today’s Market". He has also presented on Top Ten Tips for Tenants and Purchasers of real estate recently as well as acquisition financing and off-title searches.

James has practised at two other major Montréal law firms and has been in-house counsel with a major international transportation company. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Law Society of Ontario, the International Bar Association – Real Estate Committee, the Canadian Finance and Leasing Association, the Urban Development Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centres. Mr. Papadimitriou is also a Governor of the Québec Bar Association Foundation and a fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA).

James received his B.C.L./LL.B. from McGill University in 1987 and his BComm from McGill University in 1983.
